Built by a DBA who got tired of waiting on Enterprise Manager
Rarexa wasn't born in a product meeting. It was born at 3 a.m., staring at a tablespace at 99% that nobody saw coming.
The story
I'm Marcos, a Senior Oracle DBA. I've spent over a decade running production Oracle databases — from single XE instances to multitenant fleets with dozens of PDBs. And through all those years, the same question came up every morning: "is everything OK?"
The options for answering it never convinced me. Oracle Enterprise Manager is powerful, but it's an entire platform to maintain — OMS, repository, agents — and its best screens live behind the per-core Diagnostic Pack. Homegrown scripts work… until you're maintaining a UI, history and alerting forever. And the big commercial suites cost and weigh about as much as OEM itself.
So I built what I always wanted to have: one read-only screen that answers "is everything OK?" in five seconds — sessions, storage with days-to-full, memory, waits, Top SQL and RMAN backups — no agents, no platform, reading only the V$ and DBA_ views you already license.
What we believe
- Read-only, always. A monitoring tool should never be able to change your database.
- Your data stays in your network. Rarexa is 100% on-premise: no cloud middleman, no telemetry.
- No licensing traps. We read only always-licensed views — never AWR/ASH — so a monitoring tool can't create an audit finding.
- Flat, honest pricing. One annual license per machine. No per-core packs, no surprises.
- Focused tool > platform. We do health monitoring extraordinarily well, and nothing else.
Who's behind it
Rarexa is an independent product, built and maintained by people who run Oracle every day. Every feature exists because we needed it in the real world — the days-to-full forecast, RMAN backup freshness, the TV mode for the NOC wall. We write the blog ourselves, with the SQL we actually use.
